Terms of Service
Last updated: 16 August 2026
These terms govern your use of IdleTab (the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use it.
The Service
IdleTab is a free set of small browser tools meant to run in a tab you leave open: full-screen colors and lighting, screen tests that look for dead pixels, burn-in and backlight bleed, tools that flash noise at a stuck pixel or exercise an OLED panel, and steady background sound. Everything runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Hearing safety
The noise tools drive your speakers or headphones directly. Start at a low volume, raise it slowly, and stop if anything is uncomfortable. Sustained loud sound can damage your hearing, and how loud a given setting is depends on your device, not on this site. Do not use these tools when you need to hear your surroundings, and do not use them as a sleep aid for an infant.
Photosensitivity and comfort
Some tools fill the screen with bright, high-contrast colors. The dead pixel fixer goes further: it flashes colors that change many times a second. That tool asks you to accept a warning first, and it will not start until you do. If you have photosensitive epilepsy, or you are prone to migraines, eye strain or motion discomfort, do not use these tools, and stop immediately if you feel unwell. Do not run a flashing tool on a screen someone else is watching without telling them first. If you are unsure whether a tool is safe for you, ask a doctor before using it.
Not professional advice
The Service is a set of simple utilities, and a screen test shows you only what your own eyes can see on your own screen. It is not a calibrated instrument, not a diagnosis of your hardware, not a medical or therapeutic device, and not medical, legal or other professional advice - including advice about your eyesight. Noise is not a treatment for tinnitus, insomnia or any other condition.
Warranty, repair and pixel policies
Anything this site says about warranties, returns or repairs is orientation only. Confirm the current terms with the manufacturer or the seller before you act on them. We are not affiliated with any brand named on this site, we do not act on your behalf, and we cannot promise any outcome for a claim, a return or a repair.
Trademarks
Brand and product names on this site are the trademarks of their owners. They appear only to identify the products discussed. Their use implies no affiliation with those owners and no endorsement by them.
No guaranteed results
The tools are offered without any promise that they will suit your device, your ears or your purpose, and you use them at your own risk. A test can show you a defect; it cannot promise to reveal every defect on a panel. No software displayed on a screen can repair a dead pixel, because a dead pixel receives no power. A stuck pixel may respond to the fixer or may not, and the same holds for burn-in conditioning on a marked panel. We publish no success rate for either, because we do not know one. Audio playback depends on browser support that we do not control.
Acceptable use
You may use the Service for any lawful purpose. You agree not to:
- Interfere with, disrupt, reverse engineer or otherwise compromise the Service or the infrastructure that delivers it.
- Republish the Service under another brand, or present its output as an official assessment by a manufacturer, a repair service or a professional.
No warranty
The Service is provided as is and as available, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability and non-infringement. We do not warrant that it is uninterrupted, error free, or accurate for your particular device.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, IdleTab and its contributors are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, equipment, warranty rights or profits, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service.
Third-party components
The Service is built on open-source software such as next and react, each under its own license, all of them compatible with the Service being offered free of charge.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent change, and continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept it.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the Service is operated, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising under them is subject to the courts of that jurisdiction.
