What this can and can not do
A stuck pixel still gets power but is frozen on one color, so it shows as a bright red, green, blue or white dot. Fast color noise drives its subpixels through their whole range over and over, which sometimes frees one that is jammed.
A dead pixel gets no power at all and stays black on every color. Nothing shown on the screen can reach it, so this tool cannot help there and neither can any other software.
There is no guarantee. Some stuck pixels clear after a few minutes, some need several runs, and some never move at all. Anyone quoting you a success rate is guessing, so treat this as a free thing to try before you go the warranty route.
How to use it
- Find the defect first and note exactly where it sits. The dead pixel test cycles solid colors so you can tell a stuck pixel from a dead one. Open the dead pixel test
- Choose a run length and a block size, accept the flashing warning and start the fixer.
- Drag the noise block until it sits over the stuck pixel, then leave the screen alone. Keep the tab in front, because a background tab stops the animation.
- When the countdown ends, run the dead pixel test again on the same spot and compare.
Frequently asked questions
Does this actually work?
Sometimes, and only on stuck pixels. The rapid color changes exercise the subpixels around the fault, which can shake one loose. It is not repair: nothing is being reset or reprogrammed, and a pixel that will not move stays where it is.
How long should I run it?
There is no proven ideal length. Start with 10 or 20 minutes and re-test. If nothing at all has changed after an hour of noise, more time is unlikely to help, and the defect is probably dead or permanent.
Is the flashing safe?
The block changes color on every frame, so it flickers fast. Flashing light can trigger seizures in people with photosensitive epilepsy, which is why the tool asks you to confirm before anything starts. Do not run it in view of anyone sensitive to flashing light, and stop if you feel unwell. Keep to the run lengths offered here rather than leaving it going for days.
How do I know if my pixel is stuck or dead?
Look at the same spot on a white screen and on a black one. A dot that is black on white is dead. A dot that glows red, green, blue or white on black is stuck, and stuck is the only kind this tool can do anything about.
